British singer Adele would love to attend Harvard University.

British singer Adele would love to attend Harvard University.

The 28-year-old recently revealed her disappointment at not attending an institution of higher learning, after she was forced to turn down her place at a British university in favour of a record deal.

During her show in Boston last week (ends18Sep16), she told the audience she is “desperate” to be a student and her top pick would be elite U.S. Ivy League institution Harvard University.

“I’m desperate to go to university. I know that sounds ridiculous but it’s one thing I really plan on doing,” she confessed.

The London-born singer shared she plans to pick up her studies after being forced to reject an offer when she landed her first record contract.

“I was about to start university in Liverpool in England and then I got offered a record deal, so I was like, ‘Ugh, what do I do?’” she explained. “Obviously I took the record deal which I don’t regret at all.”

Despite reaching music’s upper echelon with her huge selling albums, Adele revealed she is harbouring ambitions to attend Harvard University in Massachusetts, the alma mater of movie star Natalie Portman, 35, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

“I want to go and do a tour of Harvard but I don’t want anyone thinking I’m smart enough to go to Harvard,” she laughed. “I’m going to buy a T-shirt so I can sleep in a Harvard T-shirt. I think I would pretend to wear glasses if I went to university.”

Adele’s plan to take a break from music and return to education comes after the singer confirmed she is going to quit touring for 10 years. The story was first reported by The Sun.

“I’m sorry if I disappear for a while, but I do it for you,” she sighed.

Sir Elton John is preparing to retire from music as he approaches his landmark 70th birthday.

The Rocket Man singer headlined the Apple Music Festival in London at the weekend and appeared on breakfast show Good Morning Britain on Monday (19Sep16) to discuss his career, and his plans for the future.

While Elton thinks his voice is continually improving, he admits it’s time to pass the baton to the younger musical generation after becoming resigned to the fact that his records are no longer selling like they used to because “people have enough” of his music.

“I love playing,” the Bennie and the Jets singer told the ITV show. “My records don’t sell any more because people have enough Elton John records in their collection. I love making them but it’s someone else’s turn now.

The 69-year-old praised the diverse, quality lineup of the Apple Music Festival which includes pop superstar Britney Spears, Michael Buble and Calvin Harris, all artists whose music he enjoys.

“No, but I listen to their records,” he responded when asked if he is inspired by them. “It’s a very diverse bill and that is what Apple Festival is about and that is what it should be about. Diversity.

“There are all really good artists and great songwriters, proper artists and not top 10 c**p artists,” he added. “When I hear new music – and there is a lot of it around – it keeps me young and on my toes.”

The award-winning songwriter turns 70 in March (17), and believes despite his increasing age, he is losing none of his vocal ability.

“My voice is getting better as I get older. I think I’m singing better than I ever have,” Elton insisted, but adds he has no plans to go on forever.

For his forthcoming birthday, Elton, who has raised $200 million (£153 million) through his The Elton John AIDs Foundation to support HIV related programs, is eschewing a party for himself and plans to host a charitable event in Los Angeles on the night.

Introducing Volpi: when two lovers made some art and music together.

The creature was born on the sun-baked Italian streets of Bologna when an English boy and an Italian girl decided to make some sweet music together. Mixing genres like their nationalities, Volpi takes hazy guitars, soulful melodies, and disco basslines then glues it all together with a dark electro twist.

Already featured as the BBC introducing track of the day, Volpi are now ready to unleash a series of singles this summer, each with its own Volpi-produced video featuring graphics by the fair hand of Selene!

Tom from Volpi says ” My dear old Mum Wendy died early this year from lung cancer after a dignified and very brave fight. Whilst at home for 6 months caring for Mum with my Dad, I wrote an album of music during the evenings and nights: partly as a distraction, and partly to try and remind me of some of the beautiful, positive things life has to offer – in this case, Music. Together with my partner in kryme, Selene, we hope that through something so painful can come something positive and hopeful, especially in a world which is currently so fractured and inward-looking”.

For this reason, we will be releasing a number of tracks this summer as free downloads but with the possibility to make a charitable donation. We would be super grateful for your support !

The Indie poptastic new single ” Not like anybody else” has been described as ” Ben Folds with an Indie Beach Boys on backing” and will be available as a free download from 17/09/16 with an official worldwide release exactly one month later.

Wills and the willing–Dream in colour

Iam Wills and the Willing artwork

Ian Wills has always had somewhat of a ‘revolving door policy’ on his critically acclaimed band Wills & The Willing. Each of his first two albums featured an almost entirely different line-up, including Jessie Wood (Reef), Rachel Wood (Cirque de Soleil), and guest vocals from the likes of Tom McRae., Harry Collier, & Liane Carrol. Now with a brand new line-up and a bigger, more accessible sound for his third album ‘Dream In Colour’; Wills finally believes that he has settled on a definitive band line-up and has an inspiring set of new songs that will help take the band to a much wider audience.

“BUTTERFLIES”

Inspired by the town of Wotton Bassett and the tearful repatriations, the first single ‘Butterflies’ relies heavily on the musical skills of new full-time ‘Willing’ members Sean Genockey , Charlie Morton and John Hogg (Moke, Rich Robinson, Roger Daltrey). You can not fail to be moved by the cinematic tear stained lyrics that comes from the sword like pen of Wills, coupled with its soaring chorus and emotive production.

“DREAM IN COLOUR”

In September of 2012, Ian , Sean , Charlie & John started working on the third Wills & The Willing album, “Dream In Colour”, which was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios, Wales and at South London’s Black Dog Studios. The album was engineered and recorded by Sean, who also mixed seven of the tracks, along with additional mixes by Ruadhri Cushnan, and was produced by Wills & The Willing.

Ruadhri who co- wrote and performed on the tracks  “Amazing” and “Patience” with ( George Michael), is also  acknowledged as being one of the UK’s leading mixing enginners. Over the past  six years, he has mixed for (U2, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, KT Tunstall, Newton Faulkner, The Guillemots , Seth Lakeman, The Maccabees, Ed Sheeran) in between doing the mixes for “ Dream In Colour” he mixed (“ Babel” Mumford and Sons) much anticipated second album.

Sean is very much on the cutting edge of Indie music , in the past decade he has produced some of the best new music to come out of the UK-his guitar playing skills are in high demand- Sean has just finished playing and recording guitars on the new album by (Roger Daltrey)

John spent the late Summer and Autumn of 2015 touring with (Rich Robinson- ex Black Crowes) – culminating in John sharing a stage in Seattle with ( Rich, Jimmy Page and members of Nirvana, Soundgarden & Paul Rodgers)

Ian’s forthcoming book “Nothing To Lose”, published by New Haven Publishing, is scheduled for Worldwide release on September 26th, 2016.

THE STORY

Ian Wills released his first commercial recording in 2004, when he collaborated with the legendary drummer and producer (Trevor Morais), under the name of “Hundred & 3” – Ian released the track “HIV” on One Little Indian, (Bjork) label. “HIV” featured the late (Alvin Lee) playing guitar riffs, and

(Jean Alain Roussel),  who is  renowned for his work with ( Cat Stevens, Bob Marley, Sting, Vangelis) on keyboards.

In late 2004 Ian formed Wills & The Willing and it was in October of 2005 that Janice Long started to champion the band, when she  played the single “21st Century Love Song” on her highly regarded and popular Radio 2 program. By the Summer of 2006, the band was enjoying strong national radio and media support, and was playing at festivals across the UK, including the much loved and highly respected Guilfest. The highlight for Ian, whilst on the second series of gigs, was in New York, when he had the privilege of sharing a radio show with the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Legend ( Les Paul), who announced, live on air, that the lyrics of “21st Century Love Song” were among his favourite in recent times.

In 2007, Ian reformed his band, Wills & The Willing, bringing in musicians and friends that he had long admired to record the second album “Heroes & Villains”- the new line up consisted of Ian, Sean Genockey and Charlie Morton, plus part time members The Adj & John Tills, ex Kubb. They released their first single “Skin”, which featured Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. “Skin” was used as part of the football anti racist “Kick It Out” Campaign. Wills & The Willing went on to release the second single “Lipstick” to critical acclaim in 2008, featuring the Mercury Prize nominated (Tom McRae) .

Wills & The Willing went back on the road with the new line up in anticipation of the release of “Heroes And Villains”- they played Guilfest, the Isle of Wight music Festival, The Royal Albert Hall and live sessions at Radio 2. Sadly, just as they were due to embark on a full UK tour, calamity struck as Ian was rushed to hospital and spent two years in  and out of hospital during his recovery process – which resulted in “Heroes And Villains” not being commercially released.

Rob Blake A.K.A Blake Bastion, is an English singer, songwriter, musician and producer from Brighton.
Combining intricate guitar playing, eclectic rhythms and lively melodies, with deep bass and rich vocals, Blake Bastion creates timeless sounding songs in a modern style.
His heartfelt, soul searching lyrics seek to find purpose in our fast paced and ever changing world. Influences of Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell and Sting can be heard in his voice, and as often found with guitarists that grew up listening to their parent’s records, he played along with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton from an early age.

Blake entered the music industry with the release of an electronic crossover album on Distinctive Records, titled ‘Know No Boundaries’, under the collective moniker ‘iLL AUDiO’. The LP featured collaborations with Roots Manuva, Skunk Anansie, The Dub Pistols, Alex Vargas, Bluey Robinson and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The first track, titled ‘Nibiru’, is currently the introduction to the Arcadia Spectacular Metamorphosis show, winners of the TPI ‘Live Production of the year 2016’ award.
Blake recently composed music for and performed on the Glastonbury Arcadia ‘Spider’ stage this year, with the Mechanical Orchestra, a new 21 piece band.

Britney Spears doesn’t listen to her own music.

bri

Britney Spears doesn’t listen to her own music.

The 34-year-old singer is currently enjoying a musical comeback thanks to her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency and recently released ninth studio album Glory.

When it comes to rating her own tunes, Britney relies on other people to give her their verdict, as she always steers clear of listening to her own offerings.

“It’s funny, because I don’t really listen to my music,” she told Flaunt magazine. “My kids do and my nieces do. I’m about the creative process. I’m in the moment of being creative and then I put it out there. Of course, I sing my songs every night (at my residency) and I have to listen to it that way, but I’m all about change. And new. And forthcoming.

“But, there is a part of me in my music and I hope, for my fans, that they can have that part of me when they hear me on the radio, or buy my CD, or whatever they do.”

Britney has been in show business since the tender age of five, and has enjoyed a successful, and often colourful, career ever since. The mother-of-two admits that throughout her time in the spotlight, she has always struggled with anxiety – something stars including Zayn Malik and Selena Gomez have also recently opened up about.

“Oh, I’m so weird. I get nervous in a lot of situations,” Britney told the publication. “Parties, clubs. When there are a lot of people around, I’m a weird, anxiety-ridden person.”

The Make Me… singer also opened up about her religious beliefs. When it comes to her thoughts on life after death, Britney said she is of the opinion there is an afterlife, and believes she is in this world to do her best before she passes on.

“I believe in an afterlife, of course. I’m a very spiritual person. I believe in heaven,” she explained. “I believe we’re all here for a reason. I think we’re here just as people to pass it on and pass our information on to others, to inspire as much as we can. Inspire every day. And just to be good people, you know? And give back and help others.”
